The Museum of Everyday Life

The thing about travelling, I love and enjoy the most is discovering little nooks of culture. Museums have been around for a while; I would say they came about because someone wanted to preserve their culture in one form or another. While sometimes it’s didactic, some museums have a little eccentricity to them. The museum of everyday life is small, but contains things of a bygone era. Some things would probably provoke nostalgia and others well….they probably would do nothing for anyone. It’s all a matter of taste. The pieces in the museum I found most fascinating are the matches. There was the U.S Army Base collection, the California nightclubs collection and the Anchorage Alaska collection. They are three collections from the vast holdings of the McCaw-Cook archives, vintage and examples of fine printing and classic advertising imagery of a bygone era. I don’t really know how long they date back……
